The ISPAN, Institute for the Preservation of National Heritage, is a public organization of the Republic of Haiti established by a government decree on March 28, 1979. An autonomous technical body of the Haitian state, ISPAN’s mission is to inventory and classify tangible elements of the national heritage; to conduct general and detailed studies of restoration and enhancement projects for monuments and historical sites; to oversee and control the execution of such projects; to assist in the promotion and development of public or private activities aimed at preserving the national heritage; and to disseminate all information and documentation related to architectural and monumental heritage, both national and international.
